SUGGESTED PBS

These are age appropriate icon sets we’ve found that might be well suited to Gooseberry students. You’re in no way obligated to pick a PB off this list, but we thought a small collection of them would help people struggling for ideas. If players have any they’d like to add to this list, comment below and we’ll add them!

Obviously, use your best judgement. Some of these PBs may be better suited for seniors rather than sophomores, and vice versa.

GUYS:

GIRLS:

We also suggest checking [insanejournal.com profile] pb_updates or Hollow Art for other options. Please check the taken PBs and current holds to make sure the PB in question hasn't been taken. We'll try to keep this list current, but might miss someone.

WHO WENT WHERE

Here's a list of where the characters went to school before Gooseberry. This is in case you want your character to have attended that school as well, or want to see who they'd possibly recognize. An asterisk (*) indicates the character/player who invented the school. If you've invented a school for your character and want to add to the write-up, just comment below and let us know.

WARNING: THIS LIST IS HORRIBLY OUT OF DATE. Sorry. :(

  • Castelobruxo: Castelobruxo is a Brazilian wizarding school, located within the Amazon rainforest in northern Brazil. It takes students from all over South America.

    • Gabriela Flores

  • Coote’s School for Magical Cultivation: Formerly known as The Cootes School for Witches and Wizards, Coote's is a K-12 public wizardry school based out of Dundas, Ontario, that serves magical communities in Ontario, Quebec, and Manitoba. There is no boarding system, and non-local students floo in and out each day. Local students commute via a Knight-Bus-style school bus. (See Quinn's profile for more info.)

    • Quinn Cunningham*, Fern Mufferaw

  • Covenstead: Covenstead is a K-12 school located in the Upper East Side. It's a day school and primarily serves the children of MACUSA employees. Instead of a house system, it boasts several magnet schools with highly specialized and focused curriculum, starting in grade 9. Their school of healing is particularly prestigious.

    • Reece Downing*

  • Hellebore: Hellebore Academy is a highly rated, witches-only private middle school that serves the Washington DC area.

    • Henrietta Gray*, Zoey Valentine

  • Hogwarts: Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is located in the Highlands of Scotland. It takes students from Scotland, England, Ireland, Northern Ireland and Wales. It's a boarding school with a house system.

  • Honduras Academy: Honduras Academy of Rudimentary Magical Assessment. It's a school on the mainland of Honduras that takes students from the all over Honduras, including the outlying islands. It's a day school that relies on a bewitched ferry to return the children home at the end of each day, and focuses primarily on the rudiments of magical use. It is a K-8 school, under the assumption that students will be transferred to a bigger South American school upon the completion of those grades that will be capable of seeing to their growing magical needs. It's also much too small to have a house system.

    • Solomon Webb*

  • Ilvermorny: Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is located on Mount Greylock in Massachusetts. It accepts students from all over North America. The grades are structured like Hogwarts, i.e. first to seventh year, ages 11 to 17. It's a boarding school with a house system.

It is accessible via Portkey and the Floo network, and teaches a mix of Muggle and Magic fundamentals.

    • Riley Stamper*

  • Lake of the Spirits: Lake of the Spirits Conservatory of Magic (LSCM) is a small school located on a charmed island in the eastern bay of Devils Lake. A K-12 program with a standard magical curriculum, Lake of the Spirits was created to provide an education for the (relatively few) wizards and witches scattered across North Dakota. • Cecil Honeychurch*

  • Magicrest: Magicrest Academy is a 6-12 grade boarding school located in upstate New York near Moose River Plains. It boasts a rather diverse community despite being a relatively small institution with approximately 120 students total. There's a strong focus on camaraderie and acceptance of others, making it an ideal institution for students with difficult pasts or for Muggleborns who are adjusting to a life of magic. It is far from being viewed as a correctional school however, though some of the more snobby magical community may treat it as such.

    • Asher Guthrie* (7-8)

  • Phoenix Heights Prep: Phoenix Heights Prep is an elite, private K-12 school in the Tribeca neighborhood of Manhattan. Catering to only the most intelligent and the most rich wizards and witches, it contains a small group of boarding students but is primarily filled with New York City locals. While the education is superb, nepotism and leniency with a bit of monetary lubrication are common practices. The concentration of pure bloods and old money is rather noticeable.

    • Ursula de Luca, Casper Kim, Rosemary Stoker, Sylvester Stoker*, Coralee Wong

  • Queens School of Magic: QSM is located in the borough of Queens, NYC, and has separate elementary, middle and high schools located on the same site. It is a day school serving magical students from mostly NYC but also the wider NYC area, who arrive via bus each day. The elementary and middle schools are the larger of the two, as the high school loses some students to Ilvermorny and other schools, but its students are not highly privileged and this number is not high.
