The year is 2014. Eleven years ago, Misericordia Bloom, a forward-thinking American witch, and Septima Vector, a former Hogwarts professor, founded Gooseberry High as a prestigious academy for producing exceptional wizards and witches. Serving grades 9-12, Gooseberry seeks to cultivate their students’ best talents, be they in academics, sports or the arts, in a secluded camp-type setting meant to promote both a healthy body and mind. Past students have produced senior projects ranging from new spells, moving paintings, to the magical journals Gooseberry’s students enjoy today.
Gooseberry Alternative High School sits in a remote location in northeastern Utah, bordered by mountains to the north, dense forest to the south, and the vast Lake Gooseberry to the east. Four campsites serve the four houses: sensitive Ebonhide, diplomatic Ribbonfin, playful Azurcrest and domineering Coppertale. See Setting for a detailed map.
The magical journal system was invented in 2011 by Martin Pratt, a Gooseberry alum, and have become very popular with Gooseberry students to communicate with each other while at school. See the FAQ for more details on how journals work.
There’s always been whispers that something lurks in these woods—something only seen in glimpses during long hikes, or heard clopping outside the cabins at night. Every new moon, the Anonymous Writer left the students a message in their journals, asking for friendship. During the 2013–14 school year, Anon’s behavior grew increasingly erratic, until the shocking incident in June, when a number of students were kidnapped from their beds. Their classmates ventured into the dark to rescue them, and restored control of the forest to Anon’s Brother, who promised that he would make everything right. (See Legends for more details.)
Welcome to Gooseberry High, a slice-of-life American wizarding school game with atmospheric horror elements. Combining Hogwarts (houses, magic and Quidditch), high school drama (nerds, jocks, cheerleaders and choosing where you’ll sit in the cafeteria), camp (mosquitoes, roasting s’mores and the great outdoors), and the creepiness of being stuck in the middle of nowhere.

But what's this about ghosts?
